Artist's Note
There's a particular kind of cold that sits along these cliffs after midnight, the kind that gets into your knuckles no matter how many layers you're wearing. I remember it clearly because it's what I felt while I waited for this frame: hands jammed in my pockets, tripod already set, just watching the galaxy tilt further into view over the Southern Ocean. Nights like this are why I keep coming back to Cape Schanck. The cliffs don't change much, but the sky above them never repeats itself. I wanted a print that held onto that stillness, so that some of it could sit on your wall long after the cold has worn off mine.
